Sally Shimmin was born in South Wales and attended Howell's School in Cardiff. She qualified from Guy's Hospital in 1987 and spent a further year there as House Officer and Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery. She completed her vocational training in Horsham before moving to general practice in Berkshire.
Sally enjoys all aspects of general dental practice and is committed to continuing postgraduate study to advance her skills and knowledge.
Sally completed the 3-year Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies in 2006, and more recently, in 2017, was awarded her MSc in Advanced General Dental Practice from Birmingham University, as well as Membership in Primary Dental Care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Sally and Mark married in 1990 and they have 3 grown up children, Hannah, Harry and Matthew. She enjoys keeping fit, walking her 2 dogs and acting as a Pets as Therapy volunteer visiting a local residential home with her dog Scruffy.
